  1. As a hard core Kings fan, their reactions are 100% warranted & may even be UNDER-dramatic… Hiller is the worst head coach I've ever seen behind a Kings bench and I've watched Willie Dejarnias coach my team. Hiller is particularly bad because he coaches scared (coaches extremely conservatively & is INSANELY risk averse) and even worse, he's incredibly arrogant & refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes. Go watch the press conference after that failed challenge that lost the Kings the 2025 series against the Oilers…. even worse than the challenge was his reaction. Just no accountability at all with this guy. He's TERRIBLE. I'm genuinely sorry Leafs fans

  2. Was Dallas Eakins already the head coach or assistant to the Leafs years ago It's not the coach it's the players you have that determines whether you are a good team or bad team most players only can do one or couple things maybe 3 or 4 things at most and some players are just average decent not great at the thing they do but there are players who can do multiple things and play more than one position and are amazing but then you have player's who can do multiple things but average decent but in other sense some coaches don't know what there doing and don't know how to coach a team so don't be too hard on Hiller until things go south some players wear ear plugs and ignore the coach and don't listen even if the coach is the best in the league some players are disobedient rebellious and massive ego's and pick and choose when to listen and when not to listen

  3. The mindset for West Coast teams is vastly different from Canadian teams. You're going from a city where the team is like a niche interest to the MAIN team for 1/3rd of a country. Maybe what made Hiller detested in LA is what will work in Toronto? Just a thought

  4. Maybe if they opened their eyes they could see how bad of a trade this is. Leafs trade what was their number one goalie last year for : 3rd round pick, Back up AHL goalie and a D man that the Flyers gave up on and could no longer break into their lineup. LEAFS TRADED FOR QUANTITY NOT QUALITY. WOLL SHOULD HAVE GOT A FIRST ROUND PICK EASILY FROM SOMONE.

  5. This team has a culture problem, hiller will just be another fired coach in a year or two, this management is a place holder till Armstrong can be hired and he will bring in his own coach

  6. If the Oilers hire Babs , with the Leafs already hiring Hiller, NHL North is going to be grease fire this year.

  7. Just because Leaf fans/and club were upset at paying out balance of 50 million dollar contract, "there is no current basis to restrict his employment in the League."

  8. It feels like the Leafs are swinging for the fences, but they're using a really sturdy whiffle bat.

  9. The doom and gloom about this move from people who have never been in an NHL room is wild. Why are we assuming the player nucleus and mindset in LA, is the same as Toronto – and why are we pretending that Hillers relationships with current players on OUR team, (that hes already worked with), is less important than his relationship with players on the Kings (that arent here) ?

    1. If you listened to his interview, he is adaptive and in the business of making hockey fun for these guys
    2. He wants to coach to their strengths.
    3. His emphasis is to enhance the buy in and spirit of the team

Playing to our strengths doesn't mean we'll be throwing down a 1-3-1 forecheck and he literally stated that what we do schematically is not set in stone. Any hire here, is going to an open room from top down, collective towards creating an on ice product that creates the outcome desired.

Also, im not convinced you guys are actually leaf fans cheering for the best outcome. If you did, how tf are you throwing out nonsense rumours (that none of you actually know – lets be real – none of you have been actually connected to the truth since Chayka got here) like "apparently Laviolette was the guy, and we lost him to the Kings ". Give me a fn break.

Dangle you're cool, but your friends are dorks. Sorry.

  10. Nah as a kings fan Jim hiller is one of the worst! He can’t grow younger players, he can’t do any power play, he lacks accountability consistently, has no fire or drive as a coach, he just sits there and doesn’t really motivate anyone! Dude is a horrible leader for a coach.

  11. Making way too much of LA first coaching job. Of the last 20 head coaches to win the Cup, 14 of them had been fired previously by one or more teams.

  12. Nobody could beat the Oilers in the west any of those years, and the Kings didn't have much of a roster. He likely had forwards playing more defensively because apart from Doughty, the Kings had not much on defence. Look what happened to the Leafs last year when forwards did not help the defence.

  13. In the vein of Tortorella leaving his clothes at the hotel, I hope Hiller doesn't unpack his bags.

  14. So I just subscribed because I thought Steve had matured. But man the other 2 guys are a problem to me. So for now I’m gonna take a week off from watching. If you have a hate on just give it a chance. Don’t bs me by saying you’re still open to the new management. After you stepped over the line it appears.

  15. To me, this is MLSE cheaping out on head coach like they did GM. Hire a guy many thought would never be in the NHL again for peanuts and let Keith Pelley tell him what to do. That's the MLSE way.

  16. This will be Auston Matthews last season in Toronto. The Maple Lrags have wasted his career. He wants to go home, and play for the Couotes.

  17. Leafs won draft lottery because of rogers deal kicks in next season and they wanted to give the team they own a freebie – so be it. Let NHL do its NHL things. NHL can help leafs all they want….this team is in wrong hands – pelly & chayka and they will make this franchise worst. Mark my words.
