The buds were very sloppy and undisciplined in this game. How the hell do you let a rookie AHL caliber defence beat a veteran defence 5 on 5 and on the power play! Also Murrey has to fix his glove side real fast!
This is going to be a long and frustrating season. I got a feeling this will be the last season for a few members from management on sown. Something that should of been done a couple years ago.

If I was the higher up in the club I would not let this season go until the end to let dubas and kief go….don’t waste an entire season for the same results…..I would give them till the end of October and then out they go…..get rid of them and save the season

Tavares is the worst move Tor did in recent history. Tied 11 million a season for ever. That is the price of a star goal tender and a good (not the best) top 2 defense player.
On a personal note, this was probably 1 of the 25 games we are going to win this year so, I will take a lap a gloat for 24 hours. 😉

Murray’s glove hand looks fun. Also quick correction, Muzzin passed it to Suzuki and Justin Holl trying to block a Suzuki shot screened Murray for the Anderson shot after Suzuki made a short pass and Murray had to guess because of the screen, and he guessed short side instead of long.

As a habs fan this game was also stressful. Team full of rookies, poor passes, fumbles, lack of awareness of where to pass to. Felt like the habs were warming up most of the time
Be concerned if you are a Leafs fan. They could go 15 and 5 in their next 20 but it won't matter. Leafs don't win "meaningful" games. They had a chance to spoil their biggest rivals home opener. Instead they got out worked and beat by a much younger, hungrier team, just like in the playoffs 2 years ago. Looks the same to me. Don't get fooled by a good regular season, because tonight's showing raises much concern. I think that a coaching change needs to happen urgently. Trotz anyone?

This first game will be a foreshadowing of their whole season. You won't have to watch their season for this one game encapsulates it all. They will play competively but lose in the end. And by the way, Murray will fall apart. He was deplorable in goal and so was his defense. Wave goodbye to him by Victoria Day 2023.
