Yes, the elevation does play a role; if you're not used to it, you'll struggle with your breathing and conditioning. That being said, it didn't affect them in the first few minutes of the first period.

Barry Melrose… "the Lightning in 6…. Their the champion…. This is the best I have seen them play ever…" These announcers consistently ignore the teams in the middle of country. Now all hear is that Avs played a perfect game of hockey…. or they are too fast…. They have soo much depth…. This is what Avs Fans and Media have been saying all year…. The addition of Manson was better then I thought it would be. But real Avs fans KNOW the depth of this team. The Avs just put 7 unanswered against "the champions" without their 3rd leading scorer in the regular season.

Look at it like this Tampa Bay Lightning ⚡⚡: #1 Game 1 was a tie and sudden death saved Colorado. Much like a coin flip in football. No team really won the first outright.
#2 Game 2: You played as bad as possible and they played as perfect a game as possible. Forget this Game and focus on the Second and Third Quarters of Game 1 to apply to Games 3 & 4.
#3 You played no offense and gave yourself no real scoring opportunities. You need about 50 real attempts to score not 16-20.
#4 When you return to Denver tied, build a lead early due to high altitude in mountains.
#5 Win Game 6 at home‼️
#6 You need to score on every power play opportunity and be very aggressive scoring from Quarters 1-3. While you can't match their speed, you can make them WORK 🎯🏴☠️. You will 3-Peat but you could have made it easier by getting a split.

Colorada IS an Allstar Team. That may be true but what isn't debatable is their Team speed. As Philpe Alou would say as manager of the Expos back in the day: "speed never goes into a slump".
How is Melrose still employed as an on-air figure? Not only is he generally wrong in his analysis, he can't even get out a sentence without losing his train of thought or stumbling over his own words. Messier is just as bad. Bucci is fine but I wish they could get the TSN crew to cover this series. Ace is where it's at.
