    I'm surprised the Leafs were about to sign Samsonov at only $1.8 million. That's a sweet deal, he'll still be an RFA next year. I think Murray will have a good season, I'm optimistic about the Murray/Samsonov tandem, but this defence needs work. You gotta move Muzzin, Sandin should play on the left side, and move Holl out too, try to find a way to get a quality right shot defenceman and then we're all set to have a good regular season and get bounced in the first round again.

    I don't think Samsonov has a long way to go to get that $5+million starter money, he's a former first round pick with a few seasons under his belt for Washingon, not he best stats but still a lot more wins than losses, if Murray is hurt or struggles and Samsonov does well as the Leafs starter then it's a sure bet he'll get a big contract. That's just how it is in the NHL, desperate general manager are always signing big money contracts to players even if they only had one good season, hence Wendel's son Davey Clarkman.

    There are still some really solid players available, and possibly for a reasonable one million dollar range contracts. Former Leaf Anton Stralman is out there, and he had decent numbers for Arizona, I wouldn't mind Stralman replacing Holl on the right side. The Leafs could also look at Phil Kessel, Dylan Strome, Danton Heinen or Zack Aston-Reese.

    Samsonov was the only significant signing on day one. I wasn’t very happy about Lyubushkin leaving and also Blackwell leaving means we have no physicality once again! So far😡 I know things can change over the course of summer but right now we are significantly worse today then we were last season!

    He wanted to go to Philly… that’s it. Philly didn’t have enough money and he chose Columbus as a fall back.

    Supposedly gudreau and all of his family are Philly fans and they despise The devils and islanders so it was flyers or bust and flyers didn’t have enough $

    not a leafs fan but would rather have these 2 new goalies then campbell and those rookies pretty simple…. maybe that giant goalie they drafted can be here in 2 yrs!
