Guy was literally already in Florida too. What a dumbass. He better play tomorrow or he deserves to get dragged for hockey reasons on top of moral reasons.

  2. Booshay

Oh boy Leafs PR team working overtime today.

    Get those key messages ready!

  3. FrostyOtter8

Not surprised, but buckle up because the incoming shit storm is going to be insane (and deserved)

  4. Beauuuuty

They don’t want to be called losers so they better eat up their quarter pounders.

Bro’s excited to meet the guy who continues to threaten to violently annex the country he earns his money from.

Man I miss Tavares as captain.

Idk how anyone could see meeting a baby killing rapist a “huge honour” 😭. This world is beyond cooked I’m so ready for the rapture

Extremely disappointing. Builds his entire career and wealth around playing a Canadian game in a Canadian city. Is made captain of of the most historic team in the sport. Gets to be a national celebrity because of it, instead of some unknown hockey player playing in some random American city where nobody cares about hockey. Spits on our face by cozying up to people and leaders who’d rather see our country destroyed. If I could afford Leafs tickets i’d throw my Matthews jersey on the ice lmaooo. Strip the captaincy and give it to Tavares, who is actually proud to wear the blue and white. In hindsight shoulda let Matthews walk and keep Marner.

When you get a chance to sit beside a rape victim and cheer for the rapist, you gotta take it.

Would love to know if any players passed on the trip to DC. Hell, I want to know if any players were confused why Kash fucking Patel was in the dressing room and Trump calling them. There has to be ONE player that was like this is fucked up.

imagine screaming from the rooftops to kept politics out of sport and then this happens and people are silent.

Back for 1 game out with an upper body injury!

Tavares should’ve been kept as captain

    Dammit 😔
The flak he’s gonna get from this will be insane, wouldn’t be surprised if he got boo’ed to hell when he comes back

The state of the union is going to have a lot of threats towards Canada, endless rage bait meant to divide Canadians. They all know this, and they’ll sit there smile and clap as he says it all. Listen, I’m a Torontonian but not a leaf fan so my opinion shouldn’t matter as much as all of yours. That said, my personal feeling is that he should not be captain of the Maple Leafs if he chooses to stand for this. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. AM has this tattooed on his side. Tough look

I’m disappointed, beyond him captaining the Leafs, but also because he’s accepted his role as ambassador of the Latino community in hockey.

He’s served as the face of both league and team-wide initiatives around Hispanic Heritage Month, he did a Sportsnet feature eating at Xola (a Mexican restaurant) and discussing the importance of that culture.

To willingly represent that community but then stand beside the man villainizing and illegally detaining members of that community (not to mention villainizing the country that he actively lives in) is just such a complete values contradiction.
