I haven’t heard of Jacob Fowler, but I think it’s relatively fair for Wallstedt, Levi and Askarov to be interchangeable with Wolf on these lists. All have been really good in the AHL IIRC.

And Wolf will always have doubters bc of his size, no use in getting worked up about it.

Because those top 4 will actually be good NHL goalies.

Same reason he was drafted in the 7th round. Because of his size he has been doubted at every level… until he dominated said level

…because it’s completely valid? Those top 5 are interchangable, and Wolf has looked amazing so far, but so have all of those others.

The fact that people recognize him in the top 5 is praise enough.

Looks pretty fair, we heavily overestimate many of our prospects and especially our goalie prospects historically. I’ve lost count on how many of our Goalie Prospects have been touted as future superstars…

Fingers crossed on Wolf breaking that mouldy curse

Yup. His height. Until he proves he can play at the NHL level like Saros he will always be doubted

  7. I always like Grav though, I feel like he is a good NHL YouTuber, but I agree Wolf should be over Fowler and maybe even Askarov. Probably just his size concerns

  8. Wolf gets overlooked on many rankings due to his size. If size was negligible he would be the #1 goaltending prospect imo, and his dominance in the AHL heavily backs that up.

It’s just something that will continue to happen until he solidified himself as a starter in the NHL, but it is what it is. Kids legit and only a matter of time before he proves the doubters wrong

His size. And it’s not his height so much as his size in general. He’s small in the net, needs to fill out some more still. look at Saros, they are the same height but Saros looks way bigger in net. Until he proves himself at the NHL level, he will always have doubters.

Wolf is a top goalie prospect with massive question marks.

Seems like a pretty fair ranking. If he’s the 5th best goalie in the NHL that’s a huge win for his draft position.

  11. Because all those goalies are better than him. Wolf looks promising but he doesn’t, now, have the ability and outlook of many others.

The one thing about goalies is they are notoriously hard to develop and predict that development. It is really a wait and see.

  12. I recall Tyler Parsons being either #1 or #2 on one of these lists years ago and look how that turned out for us.

These lists mean nothing, especially with goaltenders.

It is his height, we’ve all seen it. The gap of skill between the AHL and NHL is way bigger than you think. I’d love to see him play a few NHL full seasons to truly see but I won’t lie that it scares me. Yea he’s an unbelievable talent but maybe he just isn’t made for the NHL too 🤷🏽‍♂️

undersized goalie, thats always going to hurt him until he shatters that wall

Well it’s because…Oilers out in first round!

  16. What do you mean by “so low”? The guys above him are all considered to be elite potential, and it doesn’t imply he isn’t considered to be elite potential either. Those are all big names when it comes to goalie prospects. If someone says Pastrnak is #5 in the world, do we say why is he so low? No because he’s #5 among some truly exceptional players. As others have said, size probably is the reason those other guys have a slight edge in a ranking like this.
